  • SMUBE: Campus TV

Well like I said in the previous post, I was at the CTV camp on monday. Actually this camp started on the sunday.

On sunday, we started with some intro to what CTV is about and what videos they have done. We then proceed with ice breakers to get to know each other more. Followed by lessons on storyboarding and camera work.

We were then divided up into groups and given a task to produce a video around then theme “Lift”. My group decided that we should make a video about a ghost in the lift. Will post the link to the video when I get it. After we had complete the video, we were given comments about how to better improve the video, and most of it was very helpful feedback.

I felt that the video was quite well done considering that we had only two plus hours to complete it.

After the review session, we went to have supper. Learnt more about some of the supper locations near to the school.

We then went back to school, and spend the night in the Campus Radio room.

In the morning, we played a game called sherades (at least I think this is the spelling).

We then proceeded to brain storming for the SMU video contest, Sho*ping & Mu*ging. And also for the next season of Campus TV. We actually intended to have 3 teams for the video contest, but decided that it was best to chose 1 idea and work on it and focus on the next season for Campus TV. And I took the job of doing up the video for the contest. Well hope I can make something out of it.

At the end of the day, we played a drawing form of taboo. And it was quite fun and we had a great time. We after the game helped to pack things up as Campus TV would be moving into the Radio Room. As OSL have decided to use the current room for something else.

Well lets hope that I can do a good job with the video and win something.

  • Climb Team Outing

Today or infact yesterday, I went for the third day of the SMU Climb Team Camp. You may ask why I didn’t go for the first two days. Well I was at the CTV camp on the first day. And the second day, I had to go settle some stuff.

Well today was a great day. Had fun climbing. We did some very interesting climbing whereby we had to tie our hands together and boulder from one end of the wall to the other. Then we also had to climb blindfolded.

Then after that we broke camp and we all met up again at marina south for steamboat. The steamboat is quite filling and good. We had fun cooking and eating.

After that we went to a pub near our school for some drinks and singing. We had fun playing games. As some of us had things on the next morning, we had to leave before 12.

But it was fun being with this group of people. Very passionate about what they love and that is climbing. Love you guys.

  • Matriculation

On Thursday, I went for my matriculation early in the morning. I took bus all the way to SMU. Had to change bus one time cause there is no direct bus to my school except for one expensive bus.

When I got there I headed to School of Accountancy, Level 2, there I had to pay my school fees and hand in my GIRO form. Since I had previously matriculated earlier this year, I skipped a few stations, like the photo taking for my student card.

Next I headed up to Level 3 to visit the OCS’ booth. I know what some of you are thinking, OCS = Officer Cadet School?? Well nope, it stands for Office of Career Services. This whole “booth” spread quite a few class rooms and provided me with information to complete my 80 hours of community service that I have to do to graduate.

Next was a visit to the OSL’ booth. OSL stands for Office of Student Life. There I signed up for the SMUX “Lost” camp, my faculty’s METAmorphosis camp and the school’s CIRCLE Xperience Camp. I was also informed here that for my School’s CONVOCATION as they put it – “your attendance is therefore required”. Guess what this event is also very formal.

After all this, I went over toward the Li Ka Shing Library for my next station. First I had to get my student card encoded, for security purpose. Since I previously matriculated the process was quite fast. Next I went into the library and went to the top level. There the laptops were on sale. Before I brought my laptop, I attended a library workshop. The workshop informed me about the various services that the library provides. At the end of the workshop, they had a small contest. It was called the “mazing” race. It was something that made us explored the library to know where everything is.

After I was done with the game, I went on to buy my laptop. I brought an Acer Travelmate 3282. I felt that it is quite a good laptop for its price and is quite feature packed.

Well that all for now. I will update about my camps.

  • Exemptions

Well today I received a letter from SMU about exemptions of courses for my BSc (ISM). I got exemption for two modules, calculus & data management. For calculus, I think is because of my math and for data management, should be because of my poly time, my database module did quite well.

I also received email about an exemption exam for programming. Think most likely would go for it. See if can get that exemption. Fewer things to study, more time to CCA.

And next week is matriculation week. I have been looking forward to it. I can’t wait to register for all the orientation activities. Hoping to meet more people and expend my social circle.
